The knowledge and expertise of enslaved Africans and African-Americans made rice both an economic and cultural staple in the South Carolina Low Country. Costumed interpreters will be hand to discuss the planting, cultivating, harvesting, and processing of Carolina Gold Rice, as well as its impact on 18th and 19th Century South Carolina.
