ACTIVITIES
Games of Yesteryear: Play in the 18th & 19th Centuries
The games of both children and adults provide not only a means of leisure and playfulness, but act as a conduit of creativity, skill, and imagination. Guests can try their hand at walking on a pair of stilts, rolling a wooden hoop, bowling a game of skittles, and other period games.
Candle–Making
During the 18th and 19th century, candles were an essential part of every household. Under the guidance of a costumed interpreter, guests will have the opportunity to make their own candle.
Pottery Molding
Molding techniques have not only been used for centuries to create pottery, but to adorn it as well. Under the tutelage of the Middleton Place resident potter, guests will make their own clay creations using sprig molds and clay stamps.
Wool Carding
Carding wool was the last step in cleaning and preparing the fiber for spinning. Under the tutelage of a costumed interpreter, guests will be taught how to card wool from the Middleton Place sheep.
Animal Visits
