A Color to Dye For

Date: March 17, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Location: Middleton Place

Color has long been used as a means of personal expression, decoration and status. Join costumed interpreters as they dye the skeins of wool shorn from the Middleton sheep. Such natural dyes as mistletoe, onion skin and cochineal will be used to create a variety of colors.

Visitors are invited to participate in a “hands-on” experience of dyeing a piece of cloth. For $5.00, visitors can dye a cotton handkerchief in a vat of Indigo Dye. An experienced dyer will be there to demonstrate the steps.

Included in General Admission.
