As a national leader in preservation, research and education, the Middleton Place Foundation is continuing its year-long 50th anniversary celebrations. In honor of this milestone, we are holding a Tree Dedication ceremony on September 20th at 10 AM. We invite you to join us for this occasion.
The Middleton Place Oak, a beloved part of our community, has stood over Middleton Place for hundreds of years. After the devastation of Hurricane Hugo in 1989, Sidney Frazier, VP of Horticulture, felt a deep connection to this tree and its history, inspiring him to take action. In 1997, the Middleton Place Oak was propagated, and that new seedling was planted, ensuring that its history lives on. Today, 27 years later, we gather to dedicate this tree, a symbol of our shared history and to honor the Middleton Place Foundation’s mission of stewardship, preservation, and education.
