Hours and Information

Middleton Place, a National Historic Landmark located on the banks of the Ashley River, encompasses America’s oldest landscaped Gardens, the Middleton Place House Museum and Plantation Stableyards.



Open daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Annual Maintenance Notice:
The Middleton Place House Museum will be closed January 17 - 27 and will reopen for tours on January 28, 2017. All other tours will run normally during this time.

The Middleton Place Restaurant will be closed January 30 - February 1, 2017 and will reopen on February 2, 2017. The Garden Market will be open to serve lunch to daytime guests during this time.

Closes at 1 p.m. on June 11, 2017 (Spoleto Festival Finale)
Closes at 1 p.m. on December 24, 2017 (Christmas Eve)
Closed on December 25, 2017 (Christmas Day)

A 45 minute guided tour describing the role of the Middleton family in the development of our country’s history through family collections of portraits, furniture, silver and historic documents.

A 35-45 minute leisurely ride through the remote areas of the plantation in a handcrafted open-air carriage led by an expert guide and driver.

Note: Carriages are weather and nature permitting and may only be purchased at the Middleton Place Visitor Center upon arrival. Additionally, there is a $10 seat charge for children 5 & under who do not sit on a lap.
Seating is limited and during summer months carriages may not be available due to Low Country heat and humidity.
