A 501 (C)(3) not-for-profit trust, the Middleton Place Foundation was established in 1974. The Middleton Place Foundation's mission is to sustain the highest levels of preservation and interpretation for the Middleton Place National Historic Landmark, its Gardens, House Museum, Plantation Stableyards and the Edmondston-Alston House Museum.
