Middleton Place House Museum Tour
-45 minute guided tour of the Middleton Place House Museum, built by Henry Middleton in 1755 as a gentleman’s guest quarters, is the only surviving portion of the three-building residential complex that once stood overlooking the Ashley River. The museum contains an extraordinary collection of Middleton family furniture, paintings, books and documents dating from the 1740s through the Civil War.  


Admission to the Edmondston-Alston House - located in downtown Charleston
-30 minute guided tour of the home’s public rooms and piazzas with a special focus on its Federal and Greek revival design and the vast collection of family silver, decorative arts and furniture. Edmondston-Alston House is a house museum of the Middleton Place Foundation located in Downtown Charleston at 21 East Battery. Visit EdmondstonAlston.com for more information.


Addtional Tours available only at the Middleton Place Visitor Center, as they are weather permitting: Carriage tours (45 min.) and guided African American Focus Tours (75 min.). Inquire at the Middleton Place Visitor Center upon arrival.

- Middleton Place is open 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 p.m. daily and is closed on Christmas Day. 
- Edmondston-Alston House is open Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m..; Sunday & Monday 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours are subject to change and is closed on Thankgiving and Christmas.
